Good Content Enables Search Engine Marketing

Search Engine Marketing Examples - by Brian Pasch

Once your website design and HTML coding is clean then the next step in SEO success is good content.  Well formed articles which include key phrases that drive customers to read your articles are part of the art form of search engine optimization.

I have decided to give examples of good one page articles that have been successful in gaining page one rankings on the major search engines.  Good writing and proper HTML coding can be a great asset to any company's marketing plans.

Example #1 - Liebert Manufacturer's Representative

A friend of the firm is a Northern New Jersey manufacturers representative for the Liebert Corporation.  Liebert has many divisions but some of the more well known products they product are commercial HVAC systems for data centers.  When my friends website did not come up on Google Page one for the term "Liebert Sales" or "NJ Liebert Sales" I decided to write an article about her Liebert business on my blog.  The result? My article shows on Page one in Google just under the Liebert Corporation website.   Anyone looking for Liebert Sales or Service in New Jersey will now find a glowing review of the company and can then follow the link to the Stillwell-Hansen website.

Example #2 - Scarecrow Winery - New California "Cult Status" Wine

When a hot new wine hits the marketplace the wine community scurries to find a way to purchase the wine.  In the case of Scarecrow Winery, they developed a 100% flash based website which is basically invisible to search.  I guess since their wine sells out in just a few hours of the release day, they may not need to optimize their website.

However, I still think its important for people to know how to find the winery's website and learn about the project.  So I wrote a few articles on the winery and rated their wine after tasting it very highly. I also posted some article on web based article sites like: www.ezinearticles.com. Once the articles were indexed, I dominated the top spots Google search page and still do so today.

Here are some specific search phrases and the results taken on May 5, 2007:

  • Scarecrow Winery - Google Page One listings 2, 3, 5 and 7

  • Scarecrow Cabernet  - Google Page One listings 2, 5 and 6

  • 2003 Scarecrow  - Google Page One listings 2, 3 and 4

This is because of many factors but the winery is not a player in search due to poor website design.  Then the rest of the competition is mainly from wine retailers and wine writers, so it looks like my methodology is winning that game.

A good SEO plan addresses the long term issue of keeping your website updated with fresh new content.  If your website is not being updated with new, pertinent content you changes of keeping your SEO rankings are poor.
